5 things that every post-1990 Nepalese kids recall about their childhood



‘Hijo Aaja Ka Kura’ ---longest running Tele-comedy in Nepal Television. This was directed and written by Mr.  Santosh Panta was popular soap opera. The mega famous tele comedy used to air at every Friday and kids used watch with a great gusto.



2. Terror of civil war in Nepal (1996-2006)


One of the dreaded memories of every child which took the lives of thousands of Nepalese people was the dark side of Nepalese modern history. This war was shattering portions of Nepalese history which shook the entire socio-economic and political spectrum of Nepal. Unfortunately, many kids lost their childhood in the terror of bullets. Let us hope, this won’t be repeated in our kid’s generation.



3.   Mario video game


When globalization started in Nepal after 1990’s, it introduced different amusement in Nepal. One of the popular amusements was digital gaming known as Video Game. Most of the rich kids used to play it. Their best playlist in Video game was Mario.


4. Guccha(Marble)


Mario was urban centric game while Guccha(Marble) was popular among rural and impoverished kids in Nepal.


5.  ‘Ma hu Nepali Babu, Made in Nepal’- that every kid used to dance at School 


A popular Nepali dance number played by Mr. Bhuwan K.C-showing the Nepalese patriotism. Almost, every school program used to feature this fun catchy dance number. And, we probably had shaken the dance floor.
